2 Days of Extensive Newborn and Maternity Photography WORKSHOP
Kelly Brown workshops are focused on how to safely pose, soothe, calm, and keep newborn subjects happy and sleepy. In addition to discussing how to set up a newborn session using both Studio and Natural light, we will dive into lenses, equipment, exposure, and white balance so that you know how to get the perfect SOOC image. We will also work through step-by-step post-processing for clean edits with that signature newborn creamy skin.
In this workshop, we will also be exploring both maternity photography and sessions with older sitting babies. Kelly will demonstrate how to get beautiful variety-filled galleries for your clients, bridging the gap towards higher sales and long-term success.

ABOUT THE MENTOR
Kelly Brown is a portrait photographer, specializing in newborn and baby portraiture.
Her nurturing desire to capture her family as it grows led to launching her business Little Pieces of Photography in 2005. She has since traveled the world speaking at events and teaching newborn posing classes. In her quest to capture the little pieces of life, Kelly has photographed hundreds of newborn babies, mentored photographers and held newborn posing classes across nearly 20 countries.
She has received over 18 industry awards over the last 6 years from Wedding and Portrait Photographers International (WPPI) and Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP). Those awards include WPPI Photographer of the Year 2018 in the categories of Group Portrait and Newborn, the 2018 Bill Hurter Award of Excellence and the 2017 Martin Schembri Award of Excellence.
Kelly is an international print competition judge and also the founder of the The Baby Summit, the largest and most comprehensive photography conference in Australia. She also has established an online education platform for newborn photographers found at newbornposing.com.
Her goal is to continue to push the boundaries of her art in regards to what is possible and wishes to create images which challenge the viewer.
Course Content
The first day will be focused on newborn setup, newborn posing, and business. Using newborn models, Kelly will guide you through a typical newborn session, showing her pose to pose transitions, angles, soothing methods, etc. You will be able to photograph some setups for your own portfolio, with kelly there next to you, guiding you with your own angles to get that perfect SOOC shot. Kelly strongly believes in a hands-on approach to her teaching, so Kelly will be right there to help and answer any questions you might have.
We will also have a thorough business discussion, where Kelly will be an open book. Kelly will go through her pricing, branding, methods for marketing, website, and everything in between. You will be welcome to raise your own questions at any time – all questions are welcomed.

The second day will be focused on working with older babies (aged 3-5 months), maternity sessions, and post-production and editing. Kelly will take you through a typical older baby session, demonstrating how to work with babies in this tricky age range. Kelly will also guide you through a maternity session, showing you how to capture timeless and flattering maternity images for your clients. Just as in day 1, you will be able to photograph some setups for your own portfolio, with her full assistance in choosing angles and settings to get that perfect SOOC shot.
The afternoon will be dedicated to post-production. Kelly will go over her complete post-processing workflow, using Lightroom/Adobe Raw Editor and Photoshop CC, so that you can watch a gallery come together from start to finish. Most of her post-production work will be included in your workbook, and you are welcome to take notes or follow along on your own laptop.

CANCELLATION POLICY
In the ill-fated event if you wish to cancel your booking after the payment, you will receive a credit note that can be used to avail of any of our services listed on our website, for:
a) 100% of the amount if you cancel before 30 days of the Workshop date,
or
b) 50% of the amount if you cancel before 15 days of the Workshop date
No credit note will be issued for canceling 2weeks prior to the Workshop date or for failing to attend the Workshop without prior intimation, and no cash refunds will be made under any circumstances.

- I don’t have a DSLR and have only a compact digital camera. Will this Workshop still be useful for me? Yes. The fundamental concepts of digital photography are common to DSLR and compact digital cameras, so it will still be useful, and you’ll be able to try a majority of the discussed concepts practically if your compact camera has manual controls. However, in order to make the most out of the Workshop, we recommend you hire a DSLR.
