A to Z on Blending Modes in Photoshop (Detailed Learning)

Are you new to Photoshop?

Photoshop is one of the best and popular post-processing software used by photographers and professionals. It has loads of useful tools and options to better an image, and BLENDING MODES are one of them.

What are Blending Modes?

Blending Modes are a set of options available in Photoshop that blend pixels of one layer onto another to create a unique and non-destructive effect on any image. The process of blending of layers is facilitated by the algorithm of the blending mode that is selected.

Here’s a video to introduce you to various blend modes:

Blending Modes are widely used to adjust, correct and tone the colors of an image to produce beautiful results. They also give way more control than just the Fill and Opacity options available for each layer in photoshop.

Each of the blending modes is categorized into one of these 6 different categories:

There are, in total, 27 blending modes available to us in Adobe Photoshop. And these 27 blend modes can give amazing effects when used effectively.

It is very important to visualize these blending modes and how they work on certain images. The layer you apply a blend mode to is itself being applied to the base layer. The result is a mix of the base and the blend layers.
